BANGLADESH

“LAND OF BEAUTIFUL SURPRISES”

The washed-down sediments of the Himalayas and the Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers form the Bengal Basin, the largest estuary delta on earth. Bangladesh occupies the capstone of the arch shaped by the Bay of Bengal into which drain a large number of rivers and their tributaries that crisscross the country and produce a fertile delta. The country is a comparatively narrow land bridge in South East Asia between India and Myanmar.

Surprisingly this small deltaic plain of the Ganges holds three wonders:

(a) the world's longest natural beach at Cox's Bazar (120 km).
(b) the world's largest mangrove forest—Sundarbans (Home of the Royal Bengal Tiger).
(c) the largest manmade lake— Kaptai Lake.

However, the country does not boast only these three wonders but yet more immense natural beauty and exotic village life: a network of 200 small and large rivers and 800 km of waterways ornamented with a variety of boats decked with sails of multicolored hues; lush green panoramic tea valleys; historical and archeological sites; and traditional tribal life and culture. In addition, the Bangladeshis are a hospitable people, always welcoming to visitors and eager to help.

Welcome to Bangladesh.
Explore the surprises.
